I was at a Cheltenham preview night last night and gathered some gems from some of the biggest names in racing.
However, I’m keeping my new found wisdom secret until next week, so for now you’ll have to make do with some uninfluenced judgement!
2.50 Quantum Of Solace – Mare has improved markedly in the last month, winning with head in chest at Ludlow last time.
She’s earned a hefty rise in the weights for that but it was fully deserved, and the way she travelled suggests a track like Leicester will be ideal.
The trainer/jockey combo is flying and they can strike again here.

3.05 Pistol Whipped – Nico de Boinville can get his Festival juices flowing with another victory aboard this exciting prospect.
The jock got off him last time and said he’s a very nice horse for fences, but there’s surely a handicap to be had with him over hurdles before then.
An opening mark of 130 looks fair and there’s definitely more to come from him after only two starts under rules.
4.20 Affluence – This is a very poor race and gives Danny Brock a chance to build on the winners he landed during the boycott.
His mount has been second in the basement grade the last twice but this race looks easier if anything and he was only raised 1lb for beating ten rivals last time.
He’s got by far the best recent form in this field and should take some stopping under ideal conditions.

2.50 Leicester – Quantum Of Solace
3.05 Sandown – Pistol Whipped
4.20 Lingfield – Affluence
5.55 Newcastle – Klopp
5.55 Klopp – Has only been raised 1lb for finishing a head second over this course and distance and that effort alone could be good enough to see him home in front.
Kieran Schofield now takes off 5lb which is an added bonus and this field is rife with out of form contenders.
He may be top weight but he should have far too much gas for these in his current form.
