OUSMANE DEMBELE has been named in the Barcelona squad to face Manchester United in the Champions League despite not being medically cleared to play.
The 21-year-old last featured for the Blaugrana on March 13 when he netted in the 5-1 win against Lyon to help his side cruise into the quarter-finals.
But the World Cup winner picked up a hamstring during the rout, with boss Ernesto Valverde not risking playing the winger since.
Speaking of the ex-Borussia Dortmund star, Valverde said: “Dembele is on the list despite not yet being fully fit.”
While the former Athletic Bilbao gaffer on the weekend insisted that the youngster would be gradually eased back into the squad.
He told reporters: “Yesterday he trained for a little while with the group, we’ll see if he does today.
“But he will be brought back into the group gradually.”
Dembele has impressed in his second season at the Nou Camp – chipping in with 14 goals and eight assists in 35 games in all competitions.
Philippe Coutinho is expected to keep his place in the starting XI at the expense of Dembele, with the French international not expected to start at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
The Brazilian – linked with a move to United – has ruled out a return to the Premier League, while also stating a win over them would be doubly satisfying.

The ex-Liverpool playmaker told the Sunday Mirror: “I know that games against Manchester United are special.
“I learned what they meant during my time at Liverpool when we lived it so intensely with the fans.
“I have that nailed in my memory and, even though this is a different stage, if Barcelona knock United out of Europe, it will be a double personal satisfaction for me.”
