JOSE MOURINHO has reportedly rejected an approach from Roma to become their new manager at the Stadio Olimpico.

The 56-year-old is still on the lookout for a new job after being sacked by Manchester United in January following the 3-1 defeat against Liverpool.

Mourinho recently signalled his intention to return to work in the summer, claiming he has already “turned down three or four offers”.

And according to journalist Duncan Castles, the Special One has rebuffed a move back to Serie A to take over at Roma.

Claudio Ranieri is on a deal until the end of the season after replacing Eusebio Di Francesco who was axed last month.

Maurizio Sarri has also been linked with the Giallorossi, with the Chelsea boss believed to not be bothered should he get sacked by the Blues.

Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, Castles said: “(Sarri) has an offer from Roma.

“Franco Baldini, who is a major figure in the strategy of Roma and a close advisor to the owner, has talked with Sarri and wants him to come back to Italy and be the next coach of the club.

“They’ve tried to get Jose Mourinho, but Mourinho has turned them down.

“Sarri they feel is a strong option, not least because Sarri has encouraged them in that interest.”

Mourinho has also strongly been linked with Bayern Munich, with the Bavarian giants flattering to deceive under Niko Kovac.

The ex-Chelsea boss is open to manage in Germany, as he said: “I would like to win a third Champions League with a third club and to win a fifth league in a fifth different country.

“But I do not always have what I want and my ambitions are not limited to this.”

When asked about the Bundesliga, he added: “It’s a country I’ve never trained in. Why not? Let’s see.”
