The first trailer for the movie – formerly referred to as Avengers 4 – saw Tony recording a farewell message for Pepper Potts, revealing that he’s been stuck in outer space (presumably with Nebula) with dwindling chances of being rescued. With Robert Downey Jr rumoured to be exiting Marvel with the upcoming blockbuster, could it be that Iron Man’s journey ends while he’s adrift and off-planet?
Reddit user masterofthemystics on Reddit may have found proof that he survives – at least long enough to come back to Earth for a pint.
Initially, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame were filmed back-to-back – although somewhat extensive reshoots for the latter were completed last year.
Photos and details from that initial session of principle photography have thrown up some interesting potential spoilers.
For one, it was reported way back in May 2017 that Downey Jr – along with Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner) and Chris Hemsworth (Thor) – had been filming at a quiet pub in Britain.
Located in Borders, the pub – mocked-up with the name The Cormorant and Tun – allegedly played host to the three actors, as reported at the time by local paper The Berwick Advertiser.
Such a scene was not in Avengers: Infinity War, and given the three characters’ different trajectories, it’s unlikely that it was cut.
So unless the story was reworked during the reshoots, does this mean we’ll get the scene in Avengers: Endgame?
We have just over two months left before we finally find out.
Avengers: Endgame is set to be the biggest movie of the year; with fans clamouring to see what happens after the almighty Infinity War cliffhanger that saw half of all living things in the universe wiped out.
Before it’s released, the 1990s-set Captain Marvel will be released – introducing fans to Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers before she impacts Endgame.
Then Tom Holland returns for Spider-Man: Far From Home in the summer.
Avengers: Endgame is out on April 25 in the UK.
