PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG has hit back at Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke after he mocked the striker over his lack of Champions League football.
The German chief made a dig at the Gabonese about Arsenal’s Europa League status while his Dortmund side play in Europe’s elite competition.
Aubameyang left Dortmund under a cloud in 2018 having been officially disciplined three times in the previous season by the German club.
He even took to Instagram to apologise to the BVB fans for the nature of his departure after trying to force through the move.
But despite the past acrimony the 30-year-old was clearly riled by Watzke after he told Suddeutsche Zeitung: “Of course it is hard to keep a player in the face of such sums.
“Some go to clubs because of this money, where they have not played Champions League for years.
“Aubameyang, who plays great at Arsenal, will probably be warm-hearted when he looks at his bank account, but on Wednesdays will be saddened when he has to watch the Champions League on television.”
But Aubameyang was not prepared to let the comments slide and lashed out on Twitter.
He posted: “Better for you I never talk about why I really left Dortmund Mr Watzke you such a clown.

“I remember that time you said we never gonna sell Ousmane [Dembele] then you saw more than 100M you were the first to take that money.
“Don’t talk about money please!!! Leave me alone pls.”
Stats today revealed Aubameyang is vital to Arsenal’s hopes this season as he has scored more than 50 per cent of the Gunners’ goals so far.
