ARSENAL have been put on red alert with the news that transfer target and Gunners fan David Alaba has been put on the market, according to reports.
Unai Emery is planning a complete overhaul of his squad this summer and has prioritised his defence as the area in most need of improvement.
Atletico Madrid left-back Lucas Hernandez will join Bayern Munich in July after the German giants confirmed the £68million signing of the 23-year-old this week.
The Frenchman penned a five-year deal to become the club’s record transfer, meaning current star Alaba will likely be on the list for potential exits this summer.
The Austrian, who was recently linked with a move to Barcelona to act as competition for Jordi Alba, is also being eyed by Arsenal, according to the Independent.
The 26-year-old Gunners fan has been playing in Bavaria since 2008, having joined as a youngster from Austria Wien, but recently teased a move to the Premier League.
ARSENAL FAN FOR LIFE
Alaba still has two years remaining on his contract and has won seven Bundesliga titles, three German Cups and the Champions League during his time in Germany.
Earlier this month, the left-back insisted he is “happy” at Bayern, but he also admitted he is tempted by a future switch to one of Europe’s other top leagues.
He told Bild: “I can imagine trying something else, but I really feel very comfortable at Bayern.
“I’m happy in Munich, but of course I can imagine seeing something else. In Spain it would be the two big clubs, I guess? Real or Barcelona. Also the big clubs [in England].
“Yes I was [an Arsenal fan as a child]. When you’ve been [an] Arsenal fan as a kid you will be one your whole life in some way.”
