Arsenal fans tell Emery not to sign £50m Lille winger Pepe as club have ‘internal solution’ in ‘talent’ Reiss Nelson

ARSENAL fans have implored Unai Emery to shun a move to sign Nicolas Pepe in the summer with Reiss Nelson continuing to shine on loan at Hoffenheim.

The 19-year-old winger netted his seventh goal of the season on Sunday to help the Bundesliga side win 2-0 against Hertha Berlin.

Nelson featured 16 times last campaign for the Gunners, and there is every expectation he will compete for a place in the starting XI next term at the Emirates.

But it is believed that Emery still wants to bring another winger to North London, with Lille ace Pepe certain to depart the Ligue 1 club in the summer.

Speaking of the Ivory Coast international, Lille president Gerard Lopez said: “I would yes say, it is sure he will leave.

“He enters a price range that can no longer be paid. There is a career choice to him make him for him, I think he will have the choice.

“Nicolas Pepe is having a great season and he will continue to improve.

“He has to go to a Champions League club. In my opinion, he does not need an intermediate step to go as high as possible.”

But despite Pepe chipping in with 20 goals and 15 assists in 35 matches this season, Gunners supporters are keen for their youth graduate to get the chance to shine.

One fan tweeted: “No need to buy Pepe or someone, just start Reiss next season.”

Another commented: “He [Nelson] is the winger we need, not Pepe.”

Replying to a supporter urging the club to sign Pepe, one fan said: “We already have Reiss Nelson. We should put all our focus on finding a centre back and the replacement for Aaron Ramsey.

While another simply stated: “Can’t wait for Reiss Nelson to come back next season.”
