ARSENAL and Tottenham target Nicolas Tagliafico looks almost certain to be on the move this summer after rejecting a new deal with Ajax.
The North London rivals have been tracking the Argentina defender for the past season as they plan their transfer strategy over the close season.
Dutch giants Ajax have been desperate to keep the 26-year-old left-back in Amsterdam and came up with an offer they believed would match anything else he could earn.
But Tagliafico’s agent Ricardo Schlieper has announced his player has snubbed the deal on the table and is now looking to chance his arm somewhere else.
Schlieper told Muy Independiente: “Ajax made an economic offer to match what the clubs claiming to Nicolas could afford, but it was not accepted because it is the just time to take a leap.
“Let’s see what happens in the market.
“Nico has an enormous virtue that is his professionalism, his entire discipline.
“This, sooner or later, takes you to the place you want.”
Both Arsenal and Spurs are in the market for a left-sided player this summer as they look to strengthen their squads for next season.
But they will not have it all their own way in trying to get Tagliafico to London, with Atletico Madrid among a number of European clubs also strongly interested.
Earlier this month Tagliafico himself admitted he was flattered by the interest from Madrid, managed by compatriot Diego Simeone.

He said: “If Simeone is interested in me and really wants me it means I’m doing well but the important thing now though is to think about Ajax.”
Arsenal’s need to bring in a new left-sided defender is great as they seek a long-term replacement for Nacho Monreal, who is approaching the latter stages of his career.
But Spurs are also scouting players in that position, with some doubt whether Danny Rose will stay another season.
