There’s been good news and bad news announced this week regarding the Season 1 Apex Legends Battle Pass.
The bad news is that the rumours and data mining evidence that pointed to a launch on March 12 have been proven wrong.
And even after a New Legends leak and an image appeared on the Origin landing page connected to the release of the Battle Pass, Respawn Entertainment released a statement confirming it wasn’t happening.
The announcement from Respawn warned fans against taking everything found by data miners as solid proof, but it also failed to provide much in the way of official details.
For now, it appears that Season 1 of Apex Legends is still being worked on, meaning it could offer some new stuff we don’t know about.
The good news is that the statement from Respawn didn’t rule out the Battle Pass arriving in March.
This is a fact confirmed in the recently released roadmap for Apex Legends in 2019 and is great news for fans.
This would have been the time to say that the Battle Pass was being delayed and that didn’t happen.
We didn’t get a solid release schedule, but we did get a promising update that the Battle Pass will be here “Soon”.
So while we can’t predict an exact date for the new announcement to land, we can watch out for warning signs and certain days to keep an eye out.
APEX LEGENDS SEASON 1 UPDATE
From a recent posted shared by Respawn, it appears that a new update containing balance changes will be going live before Season 1 begins.
This will be an early warning that the new content and Battle Pass will be close to release.
Until a new update is launched on all platforms, containing notable changes, Season 1 will not begin.
The major balance changes being planned for the start of Season 1 includes:
- Hit box size reductions and optimizations for Caustic, Pathfinder and Gibraltar
- We’re better sizing hitboxes to character gear & model
- Since these adjustments have a MAJOR impact on the game, we want to make sure there aren’t any major bugs, so we didn’t want to rush them out
- If these adjustments prove to be insufficient, we’ll consider additional adjustments during Season 1
But there is still no telling what day the Apex Battle Pass will drop for players to buy.
As a rough guess, we would suggest that the big update will arrive during March, narrowing down the launch window.
We would also guess that Respawn will avoid deploying such a big change during the weekend.
And looking at what days updates have been released in the past, it seems likely that something will pop up either on a Thursday, Friday, or Tuesday.
So March 19 and March 26 will be the dates that all Apex Legends fans will want to keep an eye on the official Apex social media feeds.
Here are the most recent comments Respawn have made regarding the release of Season 1 content and the Battle Pass:
“So between the datamining and the unintentional update about Season 1 on Origin today, there’s been a lot of speculation and confusion, so we wanted to give some clarity:
“We’ll be providing details on Season 1, Battle Pass, and the next Legend very soon. It’s not coming out today.
“There’s lots of stuff that has been datamined from Apex since launch and is swirling around the Internet. We know this stuff is fun to dig up and speculate about, but you should not treat any of that info as a source of truth.
“There’s stuff in there that is very old, or things we’ve tried in the past and cut–remember our design process is to prototype and play lots of ideas–and some of it may be things we’re still building for Apex Legends.
“Finding this stuff by no means confirms that it’ll ever come out. At best you should treat any posts about this as a rumour and the real info will come from us when we’re ready to show off what’s coming next.”
