ANGRY Willy Caballero had to be consoled by Chelsea’s doctor after Kepa Arrizabalaga refused to be substituted for him against Manchester City.

The Spanish stopper’s incredible mutiny in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final left Caballero, who was stripped and waiting to come on the pitch, bewildered on the touchline.

World record keeper Kepa, 24, looked to be suffering from cramp when he went down injured towards the end of the match.

As Maurizio Sarri readied penalty specialist Caballero, 37, Kepa got back on his feet and angrily waved away calls for him to be subbed off.

Caballero saved THREE spot-kicks when City beat Liverpool in the 2016 final shootout – and knows many of the Etihad outfit’s stars.

Blues boss Sarri blew his top on the sidelines while Caballero awkwardly took his seat again.

The Argentine then skulked down the tunnel but was stopped from entering the dressing room by Dr Paco Biosca, who had decided Kepa was OK to play on yet had not told Sarri until the end of extra-time rather than during the excruciating three-minute row.

Pictures show an emotional looking Caballero being given a pep talk by Biosca.

Kepa was fined £190,000 – one week’s wages – by Chelsea and apologised to fans for his actions.

SunSport revealed how Sarri and assistant coach Gianfranco Zola laid into the Spanish keeper in the dressing room.

The Italian boss claimed it was a “misunderstanding” in interviews over whether Kepa could continue.

But the under-pressure coach lost his rag with him in front of startled players.

Sarri has the players’ backing in the dispute although they did little to help out on the field at the time.

They have not been hugely impressed by Kepa since his £71.6million arrival from Athletic Bilbao last summer.

But he is set to keep his place at home to Spurs tomorrow night.

Defender David Luiz said: “The coach has the power over the group, he has our respect.

“He’s a great manager, he’s a great person.”
