ALESHA MacPhail’s twisted killer should never have been identified, a top lawyer has argued.
Jennifer Twite said the beast, who raped and suffocated the six-year-old after dragging her from her bed in the middle of the night, should have stayed anonymous because “children change” as they get older.

The Sun successfully argued 16-year-old Aaron Campbell, who was today caged for a minimum of 27 years, should be named and pictured because of the severity of his crime.
The ludicrous claim comes despite the judge in the case ruling the sicko fiend should be named and pictured due to the seriousness of the case.
Head of strategic litigation at Just for Kids Law Ms Twite, also argued that naming a child killer would result in threats being made to the family.
And that naming them makes them “mini celebrities” meaning it is difficult to do any “positive work”
She said: “Being a mini- celebrity in prison helps no one. Sometimes they are targeted because of who they are and have to be put in isolation.
“This makes it very difficult to do any positive work with them.
‘WICKED AND EVIL CRIME’
In February, Judge Lord Matthews, who had previously described the case as “one of the wickedest and most evil crimes” in the history of the court lifted the anonymity ban.
At the time he said: “I intend to grant the application. The Press may now name the accused and publish information about him.”
The boozed-up sicko left his home at 2am on the Isle of Bute after he messaged Alesha’s dad Robert looking for drugs.
Alesha had been tucked up in bed since 10:30pm.

“Brothers and sisters who are in school, who are totally innocent. Sometimes they will have to change their names.
“They will have to move house. Almost all children who kill will be released into the community one day.”
Ms Twite continued: “The reason we treat children differently is that they will change.”
