Yoga guru and former TV star Hilaria, who already has four children with Alec, wrote: “I want to share with you that I am most likely experiencing a miscarriage.

“I always promised myself that if I were to get pregnant again, I would share the news with you guys pretty early, even if that means suffering a public loss.

“I have always been so open with you all about my family, fitness, pregnancies…and I don’t want to keep this from you, just because it isn’t as positive and shiny as the rest.

“I think it’s important to show the truth…because my job is to help people by being real and open. Furthermore, I have no shame or embarrassment with this experience.”

Hilaria added: “I want to be a part of the effort to normalize miscarriage and remove the stigma from it. There is so much secrecy during the first trimester. This works for some, but I personally find it to be exhausting.

“I’m nauseous, tired, my body is changing. And I have to pretend that everything is just fine — and it truly isn’t. I don’t want to have to pretend anymore. I hope you understand.”

The star then went into great detail about her unborn baby to her numerous fans.

She said: “So, this is what is going on now: the embryo has a heartbeat, but it isn’t strong, and the baby isn’t growing very much.

“So we wait — and this is hard. So much uncertainty…but the chances are very, very small that this is a viable pregnancy. I have complete confidence that my family and I will get through this, even if the journey is difficult.

“I am so blessed with my amazing doctor, my dear friends, and my loving family…

“My husband and my four very healthy babies help me keep it together and have the perspective of how truly beautiful life is, even when it occasionally seems ugly. The luck and gratitude I feel that I am my babies’ mommy, is wonderfully overwhelming and comforting.

“In your comments, please be kind. I’m feeling a bit fragile and I need support. I’m hoping, that by sharing this, I can contribute to raising awareness about this sensitive topic.”

Although most followers were full of support for the pregnant mum, Hilaria later said that she had been left a cruel comment by someone who wrote: “Nothing is private anymore… Good god you’re annoying.”

Hilaria said on her Instagram Story she thought their message was “evil” and they should read comments from people who have been through similar ordeals so they could get “compassion”.

However, she did thank well-wishers who have sent loving messages, and wrote: “Thank you for the support and for your stories… This is why I wanted to share.

“We are such a community here. And may we continue to stick together and lift each other up.”

She later wrote that she wished for privacy from the paparazzi, and said: “I would like some physical space from being chased with cameras right now.”

The mum promised to “continue to post photos on my Instagram.”

What is a miscarriage and what are the causes?

A miscarriage is the loss of a pregnancy during the first 23 weeks.

According to the NHS, around one in eight UK pregnancies will end in miscarriage.

Recurring miscarriages, which are when three or more pregnancies are lost in a row, are less common, affecting one in 100 women.

Most miscarriages can’t be prevented.

There are many reasons why a miscarriage can occur, but the majority are not caused by anything a mother has done.

A common cause is thought to be abnormal chromosomes in the baby.

Hilaria and Alec married in 2012 and they have a daughter Carmen Gabriela, five, and sons Rafael Thomas, three, Leonardo Angel Charles, two and 10-month-old Romeo.

She previously spoke of her desire to get pregnant again on the Ellen Show in February, saying: “When I told Carmen I was pregnant with another boy, she came to me and said, ‘Mummy, how about you have another girl then you can have another boy?’

“And I told her it doesn’t work that way.”

The couple met in August 2011, almost a decade after his divorce from actress Kim was finalised in 2002 after seven years of marriage.

Previously, Hilaria Baldwin stripped down to underwear for a selfie 24 hours after giving birth.

And a journalist said celebrities are right to break the cult of silence around miscarriage.
