Frantic Dancing On Ice Bosses Force Professionals Into Isolation And Ask Contestants To Use Hand Sanitiser And Eat Fruit In Desperate Attempt To Stop Sickness Epidemic Sweeping The Studios

DANCING On Ice bosses are taking desperate measures to prevent any more bouts of nasty winter illness from throwing the show into chaos.

Both celebrities and professional skaters are now being told to use regularly use hand sanitiser in a bid to keep sickness at bay, while also being offered vitamin-packed fruit.

Rex Features Max Evans’ skating partner Ale Izquierdo will not be performing this weekend after being hit with flu

DOI contestant Jack Quickenden was recently banned from being in contact with his skating partner Vanessa Bauer for 72 hours after she was struck down with norovirus.

It has since been revealed that Max Evans will be taking to the ice with a new partner this Sunday, as Ale Izquierdo is suffering from the flu.

And if that’s not enough to cause major problems, Brianne Delcourt – who is partnered with Alex Beresford – has ALSO been hit by the same bug.

A source exclusively told The Sun Online: “Behind the scenes, everyone is very nervous about getting ill and no-one wants to let their partner down by getting sick.

Rex Features Alex Beresford’s skating partner Brianne Delcourt is also suffering from the same illness

“It can mean the difference between someone topping the leader board and going home.

“All the celebs and professionals are incredibly paranoid and bosses are desperate for everyone to stay healthy.

“There’s loads of hand sanitiser around the studio and everyone’s being encouraged to use it. They’ve put out bowls of fruit too.

“When Jake’s partner was ill, she was put in isolation so she didn’t infect anyone.”

Rex Features Jake Quickenden’s partner Vanessa almost had to pull out last week due to norovirus

Given the time of year, both influenza and norovirus – also known as the winter vomiting bug – are rife.

When Vanessa’s tummy bug struck last week, it was at one stage feared show-favourite Jake would not be able to perform.

Thankfully, Vanessa recovered just in time and the pair took to the ice on Sunday night and performed to Britney Spears’ track Toxic.

But fellow contestants Max and Ale have not been so lucky.

This Sunday, it has already been decided that professional rugby ace Max will perform with Antony Cotton’s partner Brandee Malto instead of Ale.

After Dancing On Ice officials announced the sudden change of plan, Max wrote on Instagram: “It saddens me to announce I will not be skating with @_ale_the_cat_ this Sunday.

“Ale has had a serious case of the flu all week & producers have decided she’s not well enough to train or perform.

“I know Ale, and I know this isn’t her call, she is one of the bravest fighters I know and she would fight anything to perform on the show!

“She also told me her Mum is coming from Mexico next week to watch the show and she wanted to get better to give us the best chance of getting through this week and performing for her Mum!

Max added: “I found out yesterday I will be performing with @justbrandee I have no doubt Brandee is up for the huge challenge we face and I want everyone to know we are going to work our butts off to deliver a performance Ale will be proud of.

“Please take the time to send Ale get well messages, I know she’s absolutely gutted and very poorly right now. Thank you always for your support x @dancingonice #dancingonice@dancingonicetour @itv @wearestv1.”
