Who will be competing on the show?

As usual a crop of former Strictly contestants, some from the current show, will compete for the judges' approval.

Kimberley Walsh

Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh made it all the way to the final of Strictly Come Dancing in 2012.

Kimberley followed up her Strictly stint with her first solo album, Centre Stage, a collection of musical theatre classics.

Speaking of her return to the show, Kimberley said: "I am absolutely thrilled to be getting my dancing shoes on again…

"I loved my time on Strictly so much, so it's going to be wonderful to be back in the Strictly bubble for Christmas!"

Kimberley will be dancing with Pasha Kovalev.

Judy Murray

Despite receiving constant criticisms from the judges, tennis coach Judy flew through to week eight of the competition in 2014.

Formerly partnered with Anton Du Beke, it's likely that Judy will have a new dance partner as Anton is still in the main competition with Ruth Langsford.

Katie Derham

Newscaster and radio journalist Katie Derham is back for another attempt at Strictly victory.

Previously partnered with Anton Du Beke, Katie came in fourth position in the 2015 series.

This time she's partnered with Brendan Cole in her bid for victory.

Colin's previously competed in the Christmas specials and walked away with the trophy in 2006.

When and where does the 2017 Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special happen?

Strictly's Christmas special has become a staple of Christmas Day BBC scheduling and is usually shown at around tea time.

However, the episode is recorded well in advance and this year it will be filmed on November 27.

It is filmed in the same place as the normal series – at Elstree Studios, in Borehamwood, half an hour's drive north of the centre of London.

The special involves a one-off festive competition – complete with silly costumes – in which stars from previous series are brought back to compete for a Christmas trophy.

How can I get tickets for the 2017 Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special?

Tickets were available through a random draw on the BBC website.

The draw closed on Friday November 3 and it's now too late to apply.

If you were successful in getting tickets, you can expect them to arrive two or three weeks before the recording – and you are advised to arrive early at the studio to avoid disappointment in case of overbooking.
