THE public refer to the Queen by many names- Queen Elizabeth, Her Majesty, Her Royal Highness, or less officially as our beloved “queenie”.
And although our Royal Family are among the most famous in the whole world, that doesn’t mean that they don’t have their own nicknames for each other.

Keen watchers of Netflix’s The Crown will already know that the Queen’s life-long nickname is Lilibet.
Originally used by her mother, father and younger sister Margaret, this nickname dates back to Queen Elizabeth II’s childhood in Windsor.
Yet only Her Royal Highness’ closest family and friends are permitted to refer to her by the absolutely adorable name.
Namely, her husband Philip who she has been married to for over 71 years.

But this obviously raises the question of how Royal Family newbie Meghan Markle can refer to the Windsor matriarch.
Now the editor of Majesty magazine Ingrid Seward has revealed what Meghan will most likely call her grandmother-in-law and it is surprisingly sweet.
Ingrid told Grazia that Meghan may refer to the Queen as “Mama” once the Duchess of Sussex has settled into life as a member of the Royal Family.
But this nickname is only allowed to be used after Meghan “gets to know her as Diana did.”
To start with, everything remains very official and formal.
Ingrid said: “When Meghan greets the Queen… she will address her as Your Majesty and curtsy.”
So far, so normal.

Following this, Ingrid says that Meghan will refer to the Queen as “Ma’am” and that this will be “thrown in the conversation as many times as possible.”
Only then can Meghan start to refer to her grandmother-in-law by the adorable pet-name, “Mama”.

But it is not unusual for Hollywood actors and actresses to adopt a stage name which may be why Meghan may have opted for her middle name instead.
