BRITS are braced for a potential outbreak of “thundersnow” as the frigid temperatures continue.
Winds could be whipped up to as high as 70mph in the far north as Blighty is battered by the elements.

Up to SIX inches of snow could fall on higher ground with lower areas not escaping a dusting as the mercury plummets to as low as -10C.
Met Office meteorologist Marco Petagna said: “Thundersnow is quite a rare phenomenon but even this morning we had some unconfirmed reports of it coming in.
“Certainly there are sufficient clouds and snow showers to give the required conditions for it, but the set-up is definitely there.
“We could see four to six inches of snow above 400m and even an inch or two on lower levels particularly across the east of Scotland tomorrow.”

He added: “Later in the week northern hills could receive a similar treatment.
“Tonight temperatures could drop down as low as -5C or -6C. Later in the week if there is lying snow they could dip down as low as -10C.
“Even the south of England could see temperatures as low as -4.
“In the north there is potential for gusts of 60-70mph tomorrow dipping down to 50-60mph on Thursday before it calms down into the weekend.
“Tonight we will see the last of the rain clearing from the south east of England with lots of clear weather elsewhere.
PA:Press Association Ribblehead Viaduct in Yorkshire was surrounded by heavy snow, as forecasters issued a series of yellow weather warnings which affect large areas of the country
“There will be widespread frost with some icy patches forming and then cloud increasing over the western coast into the early hours with wet and windy weather starting to move in.”
He continued: “Tomorrow the south east will have a cold and frosty start with smattering of sunshine, but the rest of the country will see showers moving in.
What is ‘thundersnow’?
Thundersnow is a freak phenomenon of where heavy rain usually associated with thunderstorms falls as snow.
Also known as a thunder snowstorm it is a basically a type of storm with snow falling instead of rain.
A Met Office spokesperson described it as a “the same sort of meteorological phenomenon as you would see in the summer”.
It happens during a snowstorm and is caused when the atmosphere is unstable.
This means a layer of air closest to the ground is cold enough to create snow, but still warmer than the air above it.
“We could well see snow in parts of western Scotland and northern England, not necessarily restricted to higher ground.
“Increasingly the snow will retreat to the higher ground as temperatures rise slightly.
“Thursday will see a north/south split developing in the country with unsettled showers in the north along with quite blustery winds.
“Higher pressure across the south should see some sunshine coming into the south heading into the weekend.”
Earlier today cops warned more Brits could get hurt amid bitter conditions today after two people were killed on rain battered roads this morning.

“Slow down or this number will rise.”
It was reported “multiple vehicles” struck a man on the M5 near Exeter in Devon at 6.40am and a BMW driver died in a separate incident on the A30/A303 after crashing head on with a lorry.

Who Is Invited To Meghan Markle And Prince Harry’s Wedding? Latest Rumours And News On The Royal Wedding Guest List
WITHOUT a shadow of doubt, Prince Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle will be one of the major news events of the year – but who’s going to be on the guest list?
The forthcoming royal nuptials are sure to be a star-studded affair, with the couple boasting a host of high-profile pals. Here’s what we know so far about who could be attending the big day.
EPA The couple released their official engagement photos shortly before Christmas
Who’s invited to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding?
Prince Harry has admitted the guest list hasn’t yet been finalised – so beyond knowing that the likes of The Queen, Prince Charles and Prince William will be invited, it’s all still to play for.
One thing seems certain, though – there won’t be as many wedding guests as when Harry’s big brother tied the knot in 2011.
This is because Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding took place at Westminster Abbey, with 1,900 guests – St George’s chapel, Harry and Meghan’s venue, has a capacity of 800 people.
Kate and Wills had their fair share of celebrity guests, such as the Beckhams, Sir Elton John and the late Tara Palmer-Tomkinson.
Also likely to be on Harry’s invite list are Tom Inskip and Guy Pelley. Harry may also want to invite Army comrades who he served alongside in Afghanistan.
With Meghan counting the likes of Serena Williams and her Suits on-screen partner Patrick J. Adams among her celeb pals, expect plenty of famous faces.
It’s inevitable that the wedding will be attended by a host of foreign royals, as well as significant political figures from across the Commonwealth.
And with an American marrying into the royal family for the first time, there has been speculation over whether Donald Trump will receive an invite.
One man who seemed determined to get an invite is Anthony Joshua, one of Harry’s guests during his special Radio 4 appearance – and he wants a starring role.
He tweeted a picture of himself with Harry, and wrote: “Back to work this morning! Congrats on everything this year and no pressure on the R4 guest edit.
“PS – need a best man?”

Will Elton John attend Harry and Meghan’s wedding?
The Sun has revealed that Elton John would be attending the Royal wedding.
The Rocket Man has cancelled two Las Vegas gigs on the same May weekend as the Royal nuptials, which leaves him free to attend or even perform.
The singer was a close friend of Harry’s mum Princess Diana and was among a handful of celebrities to attend Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding at Westminster Abbey in 2011.
It was the same venue where he famously sang Candle in the Wind at Diana’s funeral in 1997.
Will Barack Obama be at the Royal wedding?
It was reported that the couple were keen to invite Barack Obama to the wedding rather than Trump – which had all the makings of a sticky political situation.
The 33-year-old prince has become good friends with Barack Obama and his wife Michelle since bonding with them during the Invictus Games.

Harry told aides he wanted the former US president and wife Michelle, who he counts as friends, to attend the big day at Windsor Castle on May 19.
But government mandarins had pleaded with the couple to change their minds as Britain’s relations with Trump’s White House sunk to their lowest ebb since his election last year.
And it seems they have had a rethink, as a source told the Daily Mail: “President Trump will not be invited because the wedding will be for friends and family only.
“It won’t be a state occasion. If Mr Obama was invited, the invitation could look like a snub to Mr Trump, and His Royal Highness would not wish to cause a diplomatic row.”
But Britain’s relations with Trump’s White House have sunk to their lowest ebb since his election last year.
The Sun revealed that the Government was urging the prince not to invite the Obamas, at risk of worsening tensions with the current administration.
The prince was quizzed on the possibility of inviting the Obamas when he guest-edited BBC Radio 4’s Today programme just after Christmas.
However, he refused to be drawn on the matter, insisting: “I don’t know about that, we haven’t even put the invites or the guest list together yet.
“So who knows who is going to be invited or not. I wouldn’t want to ruin that surprise.”
Will the Foo Fighters be performing at the Royal wedding?
The Sun’s Bizarre column exclusively revealed that the Foo Fighters have dropped hints they want to perform at the wedding.
Frontman Dave Grohl said: “I’ve saved the date. The performance was good. It’s nice to feel like a wedding band when everyone’s at tables eating tiramisu.”
The band, who picked up Best International Group at the Brit Awards 2018, played at Harry’s Invictus Games in 2014.
When are Prince Harry and Meghan Markle getting married?
Shortly after the engagement was announced, it was revealed that the wedding between Harry and Meghan will take place next spring in May.
On December 15, Kensington Palace confirmed the ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018.
The wedding is taking place at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, which is where Harry was christened when he was three months old.
In a statement, Clarence House said: “Her Majesty The Queen has granted permission for the wedding to take place at the Chapel.
“The Royal Family will pay for the wedding.”
Where are Prince Harry and Meghan Markle getting married?
The couple will tie the knot at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.
Charles and Camilla had their televised blessing there in 2005 and it offers the couple a more low key venue than Westminster Abbey, where Kate Middleton and Prince William got married.
St George’s Chapel can accommodate 800 guests, whereas the Abbey seats 2,000.
Harry and Meghan have said they are looking at ways to make their wedding an event that members of the public can feel a part of.
It is also the most convenient option for the Queen and Philip, who spend most of their time at the Castle.
