It’s thought a half-hour romp can burn over 140 calories – and that’s sure to be a lot more fun than pounding the treadmill. InStyle spoke to clinical sexologist Sunny Rogers who gave her top five moves to try tonight…

1. Missionary hip dips
Yep, you heard that right. Missionary’s got a bit of a vanilla reputation, but adding a simple twist changes all that.
Instead of lying flat on the bed, ladies should tilt your hips up and forward, so your pelvis gets closer to his body every time he thrusts.
Engage your core and hip flexors, which allows you to burn more calories and strengthens your abs.
Not only is this a workout, it’s also more enjoyable.

“Engaging and squeezing the kegel muscles and lower abdominal muscles increases pleasure for both parties,” sex educator Bianca Alba told the mag.
The extra exercise increases your blood flow, making it easier to climax – and have a more intense orgasm.
And don’t be afraid to make some noise – each moan burns five calories.
2. Standing cowgirl

You’ll be on top in this position, so you’re already working your body hard.
To take it even further, get your partner to lay on a workout bench while you stand above him – and lower yourself up and down as you thrust, using your leg muscles for power.
It’s like doing squats or a wall-sit with your quads, hamstrings and glutes working overtime to keep you balanced, according to sex educator Anne Hodder.
It’s a lazy position for your partner, who should be enjoying the view, or get him to into a bridge position for a workout of his own.
3. Engaged doggy style

Traditional doggy style sees your partner doing all the hard work but by having him stay still while you thrust from your hips and butt, you can change all that.
To increase the burn, keep your arms long and engage your core.
You could also use a vibrator for added pleasure – this burns 18 calories-an-hour.
4. Kneeling wheelbarrow

Start in traditional doggy style, then get your partner to lift your legs one at a time – grasping you just above the knees.
Prop yourself up on your hands while he kneels, it should feel like you’re planking.
This targets the muscles in your arms and lower back, while allowing the same deep penetration as doggy style.
