STRICTLY Come Dancing stars have jumped to the defence of judge Craig Revel Horwood after he awarded booted Aston Merrygold a four at the weekend.

Aston Merrygold was booted from Strictly Come Dancing
Dancers Neil Jones, Dianne Buswell and Nadiya Bychkova told the Sun's Bizarre column the dance wasn’t good enough for his previous standards and blamed the audience for not saving him.
Speaking at last night's Inside Soap Awards, Neil said: “The judges say from the beginning 'I'm not going to judge you against each other, I'm going to judge you on your own ability'.
"If you've got one judge giving Aston a four and Ruth's given a four, what they're trying to say is 'we're not saying those fours are against each other, that's a four on your dancing ability'.
"At that point it's up to the audience to turn around and go – he was second to bottom at the time – 'we've got to vote for him'. And they didn't vote for him.”
Aston was pitted as the favourite to win the Beeb dancing show with bookies having him at 3/1 in August.
The previous week he and partner Janette Manrara had been awarded to tens for their paso and got a total of 38 out of a possible 40.

This was not the case at the weekend as Craig gave him a four despite all three other judges awarding the dance seven.
But Dianne says it was not up to Aston's usual standards.
She said: “I didn't think it was his best dance. But it was still a great dance.”

Speaking about why the public didn’t save him, she added: "Maybe people think he is safe because he has been so good in previous weeks, maybe people just think 'he's going to be fine even though he is down so low he's going to be fine' because it's Aston.”

“I think it was the best dance-off so far.”
Aussie Craig, 52, defended his decision amid the outcry, saying: “We didn’t put him in the bottom two, the audience did.”
