RUSSIANS cast off the gloom from the looming Cold War with the West with a record-breaking bid in swimwear.

Some 1,525 revellers stripped to bikinis and bathing shorts despite temperatures of only 5C in the spring sunshine of the Siberian resort of Sheregesh.

Skiers and snowboarders marked the end of the winter season by beating their own previous Russian record for a 'near naked descent'.

One participant Rodion Kirpichikov, said: "Emotions are overflowing.  The sun is like Thailand, the snow is like the Alps, the party is like Ibiza."

The resort is in the same region – Kemerovo – of last month's appalling shopping mall fire which killed at least 64.

And much recent news out of Russia – including the bitter conflict with the West over nerve agents in Salisbury and Syria as well as an economy on the brink – has been miserable but the participants found the fun in the cool spring sun.

One, Kristina Tikhomirova,  said: “I was told that Siberian women are the craziest and most fearless and they are completely right. It was an explosive day.

“The weather was super, the people are cheerful, so, if you were not here, you lost a lot!”

Irina Komarova said: “There’s an carefree atmosphere of overwhelming joy so much that you don’t want to return to usual things….there are no prohibitions.”

People came from around the world – including Uganda, Canada and Sweden – for the annual event.

“Wearing bikinis and bathing shorts a total of 1,525 claimed a new Russian record for the daring downhill escapade,” reported The Siberian Times.

Last year 1,496 took part in the so-called GrelkaFest highlight closing the ski season.

Stanislav Konenko, editor of the Russian Book of Records, confirmed the achievement.

“This is the coolest record,” he said. “It's very pleasant to be here, always a really positive atmosphere. Preparation for the record is always at a high level.

Less than a year later, Liu, 50, was found dead in his Manhattan apartment.

Her “everlasting friendship” with the diabetic, heart-diseased, chronic alcoholic is why, Beckham says, he named her the beneficiary of his retirement accounts and a life-insurance policy worth a combined £160,000 ($223,000).

IT director Micky’s sister, May Liu, however, claims “Beckham, as a professional exotic dancer, was adept at applying and using coercion and manipulation upon men.”

But the glamour girl beat off objections from his family.

Beckham “preyed upon Micky Liu’s vulnerability by exerting influence over him in the form of moral coercion,” May Liu charged in her legal suit.

In January he wrote her an email saying: "I miss you. Why is it taking you so long to get your phone replaced? Money? Need some? I’m not used to not being able to contact you.”

Despite the sister’s accusations, Beckham claimed they never had a sexual relationship, adding: “We had more of an everlasting friendship.’’

Justice Rita Mella said there was nothing she could do because only prior beneficiaries — in this case, the exec’s former girlfriend — could sue for the funds.

Beckham denied that she was a gold digger.

RESURFACED video appears to show Smallville actress Allison Mack, in a bizarre 'recruitment video' for the NXIVM sex cult.

In it Mack, who allegedly acted like a slave “master” and recruited women to the group, raves about being a compassionate person, praises Lena Dunham and brags about belonging to a “women’s empowerment group.”

Fox News published the YouTube video called Allison Mack Q & A — You Asked, I Answered, which was posted on October 6, 2013.

The 35-year-old can be seen sitting in an overgrown garden with an old wooden fence in the background.

The video comes following a Brooklyn court appearance where she was released on £3.5 million ($US5 million) bail on the condition that she submits to house arrest at her parents’ home in California.

The resurfaced video starts off with jazz music and then turns into a series of questions and answers.

“I want to be remembered for my joy,” she says in the video.

“I want to be remembered for my spirit. I want to be remembered for my compassion and my passion.

“I want to be remembered for the things that are important to me. I want to be remembered for the way I impacted people. I want to be remembered as a woman who was honest and true and joyful. Committed. And loving.”

Mack then goes on to laud Jness, another arm of NXIVM that the star described as a “women’s empowerment group.”

A smiling Mack continued, “Working for Jness is the most purposeful and satisfying thing I’ve ever done. Watching the women who are in Jness completely transform and evolve in a way that’s so pure — it’s such a privilege."

In the video, Mack later hails Lena Dunham as her hero for being creative “without any fear.”

Mack and 'leader' Keith Raniere face 15 years in prison if found guilty, however Mack is said to be working on a plea deal.

Assistant US Attorney Moira Kim Penza said in court that “under the guise of female empowerment” Mack “starved women until they fit her co-defendant’s sexual ideal.”

Founded in 1998, NXIVM promoted Raniere’s teachings as a kind of mystical, executive coaching designed to help people get the most out of life.

Enrollees paid handsomely for his advice.

The organisation also drew criticism from people who likened it to a cult.

Last year, the accusations took a new twist, with women who were part of a NXIVM subgroup coming forward to say that they had been physically branded with a surgical tool against their will.

Mr Gyimah told the Commons International Development committee that 70 per cent of the world’s poor live in middle-income countries – with 6 per cent of the world’s poorest in China.

And he used the example of how British aid money was being used to test the introduction of new screening tests that can predict the risk of complications during pregnancy.

But Ms Latham shot back: “Why can’t they work out how to have babies safely? Why are we having to pay for things like that?”

She added: “They have got their own aid programme. So why can they not look after their own?”
