PRINCE Harry dished out praise to a ginger bearded hipster as he toured the Scottish capital with his future bride.

He was visiting Edinburgh with Meghan Markle as part of a series of royal engagements leading up to their wedding on May 19 this year.

The couple were chatting to some of their well-wishers when Harry singled out a ginger bearded man and cried: “Love your beard, well done!”

Meanwhile Meghan immediately endeared herself to the heaving crowds with a £1,855 Burberry tartan coat inspired by Scots army regiment Black Watch.

The future royal also told the waiting crowds that her hen do was already “sorted” and “will be fun”.

They met members of the public during a walkabout in the Scottish capital on the eve of Valentine’s Day.

The trip to Scotland marks the fourth public appearance Meghan, 36, and Harry, 33, have made together.

It follows their successful visits to Nottingham, Brixton in South London and Cardiff in the months that followed their engagement announcement in November.

Today, they made their first stop at the esplanade in front of Edinburgh Castle where they were officially welcomed by the Royal Marines Scotland Band.

The couple were also introduced to the mascot of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, a Shetland pony who went against strict royal protocol and bit the prince’s hand.

The pair stood still to watch the firing of the One O’Clock Gun.

Una Mallon, a mother of four, 47, from Belfast, was excited as she tried to catch a glimpse of the couple.

She said: “We are expecting to see Meghan and Harry, we are so excited.

“My prediction is that Meghan is going to be our new Diana. A wee touch of Meghan adds a bit of sparkle.

“She’s already working behind the scenes as she’s doing secret visits. She is passionate about her causes and I think Harry and her are going to be the perfect team.

“I always have a soft spot for Kate and William, but I think together the boys are doing a great job and their partners show great support.

“We are big fans of the Royal Family. We are visiting Edinburgh for the half term and we are actually considering moving to Edinburgh soon.”

Kim Cameron, 55, from Danderhall, Midlothian, added: “I just want to see them because I love the Royal Family. I want to show them love and support.

“Harry is our favourite, he seems more down to earth. He could be your best friend, just the kind of guy you want to have a beer with. Both of them are like that.

“They seem happy and they try to be as normal as possible. It’s just very exciting and I love the energy too.”

Harry and Meghan then visited Social Bite, a café and social business that tackles homelessness — a cause close to Harry’s heart.

The organisation runs social enterprise cafés throughout Scotland and distributes 100,000 items of food and hot drinks to the homeless each year.

They also employ staff who have experienced homelessness themselves and are working on a housing project for the homeless.

Harry and Meghan got to learn more about the social enterprise and toured the kitchen.

It was another high-profile visit for the Social Bite as Holywood star George Clooney stopped by for a sandwich at their premises in 2015.

The couple rounded off their visit by attending a reception at the Palace of Holyroodhouse to celebrate youth achievements.

The Year of Young People is an initiative aiming to inspire Scotland through its youngsters by celebrating their achievements and strengthening their voice on social issues.

Youth representatives from various charities and organisations that work with and for young people across the country were present.

And the reception provided an opportunity for them to discuss their aspirations for the year and the activities that they have been involved in so far.

Who Is Invited To Meghan Markle And Prince Harry’s Wedding? Latest Rumours And News On The Royal Wedding Guest List

Published

on

By

WITHOUT a shadow of doubt, Prince Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle will be one of the major news events of the year – but who’s going to be on the guest list?

The forthcoming royal nuptials are sure to be a star-studded affair, with the couple boasting a host of high-profile pals. Here’s what we know so far about who could be attending the big day.

EPA The couple released their official engagement photos shortly before Christmas

Who’s invited to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding?

Prince Harry has admitted the guest list hasn’t yet been finalised – so beyond knowing that the likes of The Queen, Prince Charles and Prince William will be invited, it’s all still to play for.

One thing seems certain, though – there won’t be as many wedding guests as when Harry’s big brother tied the knot in 2011.

This is because Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding took place at Westminster Abbey, with 1,900 guests – St George’s chapel, Harry and Meghan’s venue, has a capacity of 800 people.

Kate and Wills had their fair share of celebrity guests, such as the Beckhams, Sir Elton John and the late Tara Palmer-Tomkinson.

Also likely to be on Harry’s invite list are Tom Inskip and Guy Pelley. Harry may also want to invite Army comrades who he served alongside in Afghanistan.

With Meghan counting the likes of Serena Williams and her Suits on-screen partner Patrick J. Adams among her celeb pals, expect plenty of famous faces.

It’s inevitable that the wedding will be attended by a host of foreign royals, as well as significant political figures from across the Commonwealth.

And with an American marrying into the royal family for the first time, there has been speculation over whether Donald Trump will receive an invite.

One man who seemed determined to get an invite is Anthony Joshua, one of Harry’s guests during his special Radio 4 appearance – and he wants a starring role.

He tweeted a picture of himself with Harry, and wrote: “Back to work this morning! Congrats on everything this year and no pressure on the R4 guest edit.

“PS – need a best man?”

Will Elton John attend Harry and Meghan’s wedding?

The Sun has revealed that Elton John would be attending the Royal wedding.

The Rocket Man has cancelled two Las Vegas gigs on the same May weekend as the Royal nuptials, which leaves him free to attend or even perform.

The singer was a close friend of Harry’s mum Princess Diana and was among a handful of celebrities to attend Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding at Westminster Abbey in 2011.

It was the same venue where he famously sang Candle in the Wind at Diana’s funeral in 1997.

Will Barack Obama be at the Royal wedding?

It was reported that the couple were keen to invite Barack Obama to the wedding rather than Trump – which had all the makings of a sticky political situation.

The 33-year-old prince has become good friends with Barack Obama and his wife Michelle since bonding with them during the Invictus Games.

Harry told aides he wanted the former US president and wife Michelle, who he counts as friends, to attend the big day at Windsor Castle on May 19.

But government mandarins had pleaded with the couple to change their minds as Britain’s relations with Trump’s White House sunk to their lowest ebb since his election last year.

And it seems they have had a rethink, as a source told the Daily Mail: “President Trump will not be invited because the wedding will be for friends and family only.

“It won’t be a state occasion. If Mr Obama was invited, the invitation could look like a snub to Mr Trump, and His Royal Highness would not wish to cause a diplomatic row.”

But Britain’s relations with Trump’s White House have sunk to their lowest ebb since his election last year.

The Sun revealed that the Government was urging the prince not to invite the Obamas, at risk of worsening tensions with the current administration.

The prince was quizzed on the possibility of inviting the Obamas when he guest-edited BBC Radio 4’s Today programme just after Christmas.

However, he refused to be drawn on the matter, insisting: “I don’t know about that, we haven’t even put the invites or the guest list together yet.

“So who knows who is going to be invited or not. I wouldn’t want to ruin that surprise.”

Will the Foo Fighters be performing at the Royal wedding?

The Sun’s Bizarre column exclusively revealed that the Foo Fighters have dropped hints they want to perform at the wedding.

Frontman Dave Grohl said: “I’ve saved the date. The performance was good. It’s nice to feel like a wedding band when everyone’s at tables eating tiramisu.”

The band, who picked up Best International Group at the Brit Awards 2018, played at Harry’s Invictus Games in 2014.

When are Prince Harry and Meghan Markle getting married?

Shortly after the engagement was announced, it was revealed that the wedding between Harry and Meghan will take place next spring in May.

On December 15, Kensington Palace confirmed the ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018.

The wedding is taking place at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, which is where Harry was christened when he was three months old.

In a statement, Clarence House said: “Her Majesty The Queen has granted permission for the wedding to take place at the Chapel.

“The Royal Family will pay for the wedding.”

Where are Prince Harry and Meghan Markle getting married?

The couple will tie the knot at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

Charles and Camilla had their televised blessing there in 2005 and it offers the couple a more low key venue than Westminster Abbey, where Kate Middleton and Prince William got married.

St George’s Chapel can accommodate 800 guests, whereas the Abbey seats 2,000.

Harry and Meghan have said they are looking at ways to make their wedding an event that members of the public can feel a part of.

It is also the most convenient option for the Queen and Philip, who spend most of their time at the Castle.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding will be held on Saturday 19 May 2018, Kensington Palace has announced

NESTLE bosses have launched a desperate bid to save one of Britain’s best-loved sweet treats from an uncertain future.

Company chiefs have urged euro judges to overturn a ruling that the KitKat’s distinctive four-fingered shape cannot be protected.

During a hearing at the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg yesterday, they argued it should be granted a trademark.

But it is being fought by Cadbury’s owner Mondelez International, which sells a similar shaped chocolate bar in Norway.

The pair have been locked in 12-year legal battle, with Nestle fearing a loss would lead to Britain being flooded with cheap, rip-off KitKats.

Their court battle unfolded on the same day euro judges dealt a hammer blow to two key British industries.
