PHILLIP Schofield has shut down any rumours that he will ever enter the I'm a Celebrity jungle – and it's nothing to do with a fear of creepy crawlies.
The 55-year-old TV presenter was discussing the upcoming series of the jungle show with Alison Hammond when she revealed that he was thought to be a potential latecomer to the series, which starts this Sunday.
Phil has rubbished any rumours he could be set to join the jungle
After cheekily staring suggestively into the camera, Phillip shut down any suggestion he could become a member of the jungle camp – because he wouldn’t be able to stand living with the mess tins you eat out of.
Revealing he “can’t do metal on metal” he was left mortified as Alison pulled out a mess tin to tease him with – and Holly Willoughby is delighted as Phillip recoils in horror.
Jumping up and down uncomfortably in his seat, Holly then seizes the opportunity to grab the mess tin and scrape a spoon along the bottom of it.
As Phil buried himself in pillows to get away from the noise, he told her: “Why would you do that? I will get you back for this!”
Phillip looked horrified at what unfolded Holly took delight in finding out about Phil's niche fear
Holly then joked: “This is brilliant! I’ve found his kryptonite!”
Phillip then revealed: “It [the sound] goes right through to my core!”
To prove even more that it wasn’t the challenges that he was put off by, Phillip then took on the ‘one-chip challenge’ and ate the world’s hottest crisp in one bite.
The star was so repelled by the sound he recoiled in his seat Just the sight of a mess tin and fork left Phil reeling
However, he soon lived to regret it as his face began to go bright red and his tongue swelled up from the heat, leaving him struggling to talk.
He later revealed that he lasted eight minutes before dousing the flavour with milk.
The Pacqui one chip challenge is a crisp that is flavoured with the world's hottest pepper – the Carolina Reaper.
Thousands around the world have tried to take up the challenge to see how long they can last without dousing the hot flavour in milk or ice-cream to soothe the pain.
Phil looked horrified at the noise from the mess tin
He later revealed on Twitter: "After eating the hottest chilli in the world, I’m now recovering Sitting in my dressing room with the shivers!
"All ok till it hit my stomach 8 minutes later!! I love a challenge pahaha .. but I’m not looking forward to tomorrow"
