Paul O’grady Relives Moment He Nearly Died After Playing With Wounded Dogs In India – But Admits He Wants To Go Back



PAUL O’Grady has revealed he is planning to return to India despite almost dying following his last trip there.

Paul, 62, visited Delhi to film his new TV special For The Love Of Dogs: India but fell desperately ill after hand-feeding and playing with wounded street dogs.

The telly presenter contracted a near fatal virus, which caused severe vomiting, and was warned by doctors that he was at risk from renal failure.

Yet his brush with death hasn’t put Paul off visiting the country again.

Speaking to The Mirror, Paul said: “They said to me, ‘Keep off the streets, it’s Delhi’.

“But I was lying in the gutter with these two gorgeous little puppies.

“I’m feeding them by hand and flicking maggots out of a rat bite, and of course I must have touched my mouth or my face – you forget.”

Paul, who has previously suffered three heart attacks, was rushed to hospital after he began vomiting and his temperature rocketed.

But he added: “It doesn’t faze me at all to go back. India is just alive.

“It’s full on, with shocking pollution and noise, but it’s unlike anywhere I’ve ever been before.

“The Western immune system is not built to cope with what Delhi chucks at you. But I love the people and to look around, it’s like a film set.”

In January, Paul was honoured with a Special Recognition Award at the National Television Awards for his work with For The Love Of Dogs.

The documentary series first aired in 2012 and is primarily set at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

Dawn French Has Not Quit Tv Or Comedy Amid False Rumours She Has ‘no Roles Lined Up’



DAWN French has hinted she’s quit comedy – as she has no roles lined up this year.

The 60-year-old star has become one of the nation’s best loved stars thanks to her work on The Vicar of Dibley and French and Saunders.

But her fans will be disappointed to hear Dawn isn’t as keen at being in front of the camera as she once was and wouldn’t care if she never acted again.

Speaking to the Daily Star, she said: “I do very little in front of the camera these days.

“I’ve got no desire to do jazz hands any more.

“I wouldn’t be sad at all if I never acted again.

“In fact, when I get a script, my first thought is ‘Oh, I hope this is no good, because it’ll make it easier to say no’.”

However a representative for Dawn dismissed the notion Dawn had quit TV altogether, telling The Sun Online: “Little Big Shots started a new series on ITV last night and it’s already been announced that Delicious is returning to Sky One for a third series later this year.”

Dawn’s last foray into comedy was with TV partner Jennifer Saunders, with the pair recording a TV special last year to mark their 30th anniversary.

But Dawn revealed: “There are no immediate plans for more because we are booked up into next year.”

In December 2017, Sinitta confirmed to the Sun Online that she would be releasing a ‘juicy tell-all autobiography’:

“I have an album coming in the new year, really exciting- AND a book!

“So look out for that. It’s an autobiography. It’s really juicy and a long time coming, but it’s coming!”

The book doesn’t’ yet have an official release date but its working title is ‘Who Put The Sin in Sinitta?’

RICHARD Blackwood contemplated suicide as he hit rock bottom after going bankrupt.

The actor has revealed he lost hope after he was left jobless and penniless.

Richard, 45, said work had dried up and he “lost everything” – and the pressure was almost too much to bear.

He told OK! magazine: “I had lost everything and I went bankrupt.

“After that I got blacklisted by the industry – no work was coming.

“Everybody turned against me.

“I’m such a strong person and looking back it’s hard to believe I was in that place. But it showed me that things can really accumulate and break you down.”

He has now made a huge career comeback after landing the role of Vincent in EastEnders, but he’s now moving on to new career opportunities after bowing out of the BBC One soap on Friday.

His exit came as his character Vincent was seen having a gun held to him by fake cop DI Alsworth.

And while viewers hoped the ambiguous scene meant Vincent survived, Richard has confirmed that he’s done with the show.

BBC Vincent decided not to be a police informant any more, but it was too late read more in this week’s OK! magazine

He told OK! that when they yelled cut on his final scene it was “a wrap for good”.

It comes after he hinted Vincent Hubbard could still be alive despite the cliffhanger ending.

The character had a gun pointed at him by fake cop DI Alsworth at the end of the episode, with Vincent appearing resigned to his fate before the screen went black and the famous ‘duff duffs’ began.
