BACON, cheese and bread are three of life’s greatest achievements – and McDonalds is cashing in on the prefect trio with the new cheesy bacon flatbread.
But customers have already dubbed the latest breakfast addition the “McSteamroll” in a nod to how flat it is compared to other sandwiches on the menu.
McDonald’s McDonald’s has introduced the cheesy bacon flatbread to its breakfast menu
The alternative take on the traditional bacon sarnie sees slices of cheese and rashers of bacon folded in a wheat-based flatbread.
It’s served hot, a bit like a cheese and ham panini, and contains 298 calories. It costs £1.49.
The fast food chain announced that it had rolled the breakfast out to restaurants nationwide yesterday but it’s been trialling them in some stores since March last year.
Not all customers who have already braved the meal was impressed though, with one person even comparing it to “cardboard”.
Phew. Never look at the photo before the text. We thought someone had steam rolled over our favourite meal deal burger… #mcsteamroll

One person wrote on twitter that when they first saw the photo of the latest addition to the morning menu, they “thought someone had steam rolled over our favourite meal deal burger… #mcsteamroll.”
Another user wrote that judging from the photo, the sandwich looked “absolutely pointless” and other compared it to “cardboard”.
Many people were disappointed that McDonald’s had decided to bring out something new instead of bringing back the Big Breakfast.
The fast food chain made the controversial decision to remove the popular breakfast from the menu in all of its restaurants back in February 2016.
It was made up of a hash brown, scrambled egg, sausage patty and toasted muffin laid out on a tray.
Bring back the big breakfast 🍳
— mark devonshire (@mark19781) January 11, 2018 One Facebook user said that the the flatbread sandwich “looks like cardboard” Many users didn’t want to see a new addition to the menu but wanted McDonald’s to bring back the Big Breakfast instead Allan on Facebook pleaded with the restaurant to “try again”
But the flatbread hasn’t had bad reviews from everyone. Burger Lad, a blogger who reviews fast food menus, described it as “good for the price and tying at least once” but also that it looked “fairly basic”.
A spokesperson for McDonald’s said: “We’re really excited to launch the Cheesy Bacon Flatbread. Before adding a new item on our menu we test and trial the product, and when we did this with Cheesy Bacon Flatbread the response from customers was extremely positive.
“We’re confident that it will become a firm favourite on our menu, especially with those looking for a convenient and great tasting breakfast to grab on the go.”
