A CRAFTY home owner has managed to stop drivers speeding through his village by building a fake speed camera out of a mirrored beer mat and some drain pipe.
Resident Jim Dyke was so fed up of drivers speeding up to 60mph past his home in Clows Top, Worcester that he decided to take matters into his own hands.

Using a drain pipe, some screws, a gutter fitting, ply wood, yellow paint and a mirrored beer mat, Jim created his own personal speed warning over the weekend – for just £25.
Taking three hours to build, the carpenter stuck it in his front garden to try to discourage dangerous drivers.
And according to the 32-year-old, it’s working.
Both Jim and his wife, Charlotte, have been praised by their neighbours who are amazed by how many motorists had slowed down to the 30mph limit since spotting the camera.

Jim Dyke said: “The camera is in my front garden just behind the fence, so it looks as much like the real thing as possible.
“I’d been thinking about building my own fake camera for about three weeks after watching cars speed down our road at double the 30mph speed limit.
“It’s a residential road and we’ve only lived here for three months, we had no idea how busy the road was until we moved in.

“Since the first day we put it up last Saturday we’ve noticed a huge difference.
“One woman even got out of her car and asked if it was real as if it was, she’d lose her driving licence. We of course told her it wasn’t but we do hope it makes other motorists think about their speed.
“There has even been a fatality on our road earlier this year which shows how necessary it is that the speed on our road is addressed.”
The couple claim they haven’t received any negative backlash so far and hope their creation might even persuade others to build their own.
