Major League Baseball Roundup Giants Beat Marlins In 16th Inning

Pablo Sandoval hit a two-run single in the top of the 16th inning as the visiting San Francisco Giants outlasted the Miami Marlins 6-3 on Thursday afternoon.

Gorkys Hernandez added a sacrifice fly as part of a three-run 16th inning, helping the Giants avoid a four-game series sweep.

Ty Blach (4-5) earned the win by pitching 6 2/3 innings of scoreless relief. Former Marlins pitcher Sam Dyson got the last out — with two runners on base — to earn his first save of the season.
