Having a baby is expensive – here’s how to cut the cost

A new baby is expensive – they need so much stuff – but there are lot of ways to cut the costs:

  • Buy unisex clothes: By buying unisex clothes for your baby, you’re allowing yourself to re-use them for any future siblings.
  • Cook in bulk and freeze: Make up several portion of baby food at a time and freeze it in individual portions – it will avoid you going to the supermarket more times than you’d like.
  • Find the freebies: Loads of local health centres give out freebies to new mums and babies. From nappies to wipes, there’s a lot out there to be had for nothing, so do your research.
  • Join an online group: Parenting groups like Mumsnet or virtual groups on Facebook are not only a great way to meet other parents, but they’re also a great place to get your hands on free or cheap essentials.

They are part of Lidl’s weekly best buys, which means stock is likely to be limited.

If you don’t have time to head to a Lidl store this weekend, the supermarket is not the only retailer offering bargain baby products.

Aldi announced a massive baby and toddler sale for cash-strapped parents across the UK – with prices starting at just £2.99.

The event  – which boasts a wide range of baby essentials –  will take place online from Sunday January 14th and across all Aldi stores from the 18th.

Some of the items hitting shops include a nursery wardrobe, which costs £119.99, a cot bed with a drawer priced at £129.99, and a nursery changing unit selling for £99.99.

Mothercare also launched its final end of season clearance and there are tons of bargains worth picking up.
