IT’S November already, which means it’s about time to buy an advent calendar and start prepping for the big day.
And make-up fans with a few quid to splash could do a lot worse than John Lewis’ exclusive beauty calendar – a new, if very expensive, way to count down to Christmas.

While the £149 price tag doesn’t exactly scream bargain, the Beauty Advent Calendar is certainly luxurious, containing 25 fashion and beauty treats by a range of big-name brands.
And, to be fair to the swanky department store, John Lewis has managed to ram the festive calendar with an impressive £300 worth of goodies.
These range from sample-sized minis to full products, with “radiant skincare heroes, makeup must-haves and beautifully scented fragrance favourites” all in the mix, according to JL.
Behind each door, you’ll find products like Marc Jacobs eyeliner, MAC lipsticks and Sarah Chapman serum to give your skin a timely boost as the air gets dryer.

Other advent highlights include a Fresh Soy cleanser which “melts away make-up and impurities” and Chloe Eau de Parfum.
Clearly, beauty fans are keen on the decadent calendar – and John Lewis has already run out of stock online.
So naturally, with supplies running low and demand sky-high, the calendars have started cropping up on eBay – at massively inflated prices.
One seller is listing the calendar for £249, nearly double the festive treat’s already-hefty price tag.

Another eBay user was trying to offload a calendar for £200, while a slightly more reasonable listing valued the calendar at £175.
Based on John Lewis’ description of the fancy calendar, it’s not hard to see why they’re being snapped up so quickly.
John Lewis’ beauty buyer said: “Our advent calendar is the ultimate gift for the beauty-obsessed! The beautifully decorated box houses full-sized products alongside deluxe samples hand-picked from some of our favourite brands.
“Each window has been carefully selected according to the day of the week, like the This Works pillow spray for the perfect Sunday night sleep, the Bobbi Brown mascara for that Thursday work night out and the Charlotte Tilbury magic cream for Christmas Eve so you wake up looking fabulous on Christmas day.”
