DON’T Be Cruel, they’ve tried their best – but some of these Elvis fans look less like they’ve been In the Ghetto than On the Gateau.

Hundreds of them shook up Sydney’s Central Station yesterday as they took a special train trip to the small Aussie outback town of Parkes to celebrate the late singer’s birthday with an annual five-day festival which has been held since 1993.

Last year’s event drew 25,000 fans – more than twice the population of the town, which transforms into a vibrant tribute to the King.

Fan David Ward-Smith said: “Everybody’s in party mode, it’s a great atmosphere.

“It’s like the Olympics every year.”
