WITH party season getting in to full swing, many of us will be frantically trying to glam-up at our office desks pre-work do.

This usually involves hovering around a compact and struggling to add a pair of falsies for some much needed instant “va-va-voom”. Here’s an easy way to get those lashes on right the first time.

Applying false lashes can prove difficult, but there are various tips and tricks you can employ to up your chances of getting the perfect fluttery lookGetty – Contributor Applying false lashes can prove difficult, but there are various tips and tricks you can employ to up your chances of getting the perfect fluttery look

How should you apply fake eyelashes?

Applying your lashes wrong can mean disaster for your whole look.

Glue gone astray can cause lumpy-bumpy eyeshadow and if your eyes begin to water, from tugging your lids all over the shop, you’ve well and truly had it.

Here are few easy steps to get those lashes in line every time.

Curl your natural lashes and apply your mascara

By giving your natural lashes a bit of “oomph” first and adding a coat of mascara, you create a “shelf” effect to help support your falsies.

Trim your lashes to fit your eye

Don’t try and stick on your lashes straight from the box.

Everyone’s eyes are different shapes and sizes.

Ensure a perfect application (and no flapping or eyeball-poking ends) by trimming your lashes to the length of your eye.

Add your glue and WAIT

After you’ve carefully and sparingly applied your glue to the lash band, do not attempt to stick it to your eye straight away.

The glue needs to become nice and tacky before you attempt to stick it along your lash line.

Count to at least 30, before going in for the kill.

Stick them down!

Place the lashes where your natural bulk of lashes begin.

Look down and press the lashes along your lash line; pressing down in the centre, outer edge and inner corner.

Top tips for a perfect application and maintaining your false lashes

  • Do your eye makeup first – the lashes will get in the way otherwise and may also get covered in slap.
  • Set your lashes by pinching and pushing your natural lashes together with the falsies. (You will need to have applied mascara).
  • To make lashes last longer, add a few dots of adhesive along your lash line, as well as the fake lashes.
  • Soften the lashes and prevent “pop-up” by rolling the falsies round your finger or a makeup brush, before application.
  • When it comes to trimming, do so from the outer edge and cut from the vain to prevent over chopping.
  • Prevent ruining your lashes by taking them out the box correctly. Do so from the outer edge and never the inner.
  • Place a mirror in a position near you that lets you look down into it as you apply the falsies.
  • For a more natural look, try chopping lashes in half and applying to the outer corner.
  • Apply a little more glue to the inner corner and outer edges of your lashes, to keep the ends firmly down.
  • If your lashes were on the cheaper side, or didn’t come with glue, invest in a good quality adhesive, such as DUO, £5.79, Superdrug.
  • If there is a small, visible gap between your eyelid and the lashes, don’t fret – fill in the gap using a matte black shadow or liner.
  • If you want to increase the life of your lashes, don’t apply mascara to them once they’re on.
  • If you’ve tried everything and you’re still struggling, invest in a lash applicator – Eyelure do one for £4.99, ASOS.
  • To avoid damaging your natural lashes, never pull the lashes off when it comes to removing them. Use cotton buds and oily makeup remover instead.
  • To reuse your lashes, gently wash them in washing up liquid and hot water and pull of any old, dry glue with tweezers.

The concept is fairly simple – the bit above your eye becomes the reindeer, and your brows form its antlers.

You can achieve the yuletide look using eye liner and eyeshadow to make the reindeer body.

Then fill in your brows to make the antlers, and add baubles and a Rudolph nose using coloured liner, if you see fit.

Beauty Instagrammer Bri Bardic uploaded the festive look as part of a challenge with other make-up artists to create Christmas posts.

We’ve already had the crown brow, the triple brow and the lightning bolt brow, but the new wreath takes make-up looks to the extreme.

The cheery look involves painting a green design around your eyes to transform them into the front door decs.

Green eyeshadow is used around the crease, before glitter baubles and sparkly lights are added with coloured liner.

Influencer Ashley Strong was one of the first behind the brave design and uploaded a tutorial on how to copy her look – sparking a frenzy on social media.

Who says bling is just for rings?

Clever brand Gypsy Shrine has heaps of different face and body crystals that are self-adhesive so you can simply stick them on.

All In One Face Jewels in Sugar Rose, £10, Gypsy ShrineStuart Francis All In One Face Jewels in Sugar Rose, £10, Gypsy Shrine

Adorn yourself with the All In One Face Jewels in Sugar Rose, £10. For nails, Essie Galaxy 2017 in Stardust, £7.99, is the perfect blend of this season’s pink and metallic trends.

Plus, did you know pearlescent polishes like this dry more quickly than super-shiny ones because of the pigment compounds?

Lottie London Festival Gems in Off Duty Unicorn, £3.99Stuart Francis Lottie London Festival Gems in Off Duty Unicorn, £3.99

That makes them perfect if you’re pushed for time.

For extra pizzazz, we added a couple of Lottie London Festival Gems in Off Duty Unicorn, £3.99, once nails were dry.

Unicorn rocks

If you want to match lips and tips, opt for multi-tonal.

Bourjois Metallic Lip Gloss in Liquid Steel, £7.99, is the perfect one-product party pout as the tip applicator makes it foolproof to apply.

Begin by lining the outside of your lips, then fill in the rest with the creamy texture gloss.

It’s super-flattering because the sheen makes lips look fuller and draws all the attention to your mouth.

Finish the look with fab falsies like Elegant Touch Chrome Collection in Molten Madame, £8.95.

This season, nail art has a grown-up edge with simple lines and half-and-half designs.

Start with a base such as OPI Nail Lacquer in Stop It I’m Blushing, £12.50, a peach nude that suits all skin tones and really shows off the gold. But before you reach for your gold polish, stop!

Makeup For Ever Artist Shadow Diamond Finish in Gold Nugget, £12.60Stuart Francis Makeup For Ever Artist Shadow Diamond Finish in Gold Nugget, £12.60

This metallic artwork was created using foil. Simply apply Sparkly Nails Foil Adhesive, £2.99, in a single line.

Allow to go tacky for 30 seconds before placing Sparkly Nails Gold Nail Transfer Foil, £1.99, on top.

Rub so that it joins with the glue, then pull away.
