Push came to shove passing the 2f pole but he kept digging for more and looked really game to win by a neck.
He’s gone up the weights for that but he’s open to improvement, sees out this trip well and relishes fast ground.
Western Duke came back from a break to finish an excellent third in decent company at Ascot latest. The handicapper has left him alone despite that and this slightly longer trip looks right up his street because he was doing his best work as the lollipop approached.
Dance King has been a bit hit and miss this season with a good run at Chester followed by a modest effort at Hamilton last time.
He’s down the weights a little, while Theglasgowwarrior likes this track and this is his best trip.
He went close to a personal best when winning last time and a 2lb rise in the weights gives him every chance of another good run despite the leap in class.

MOVE IN TIME may be 10 but he has looked like a new horse since joining Paul Midgley over the winter. He built on two good runs with a blistering victory at Newmarket last time.
He quickened right away from his rivals to win by more than three lengths with lots left in the tank. The form looks decent too because the second has come out and won since.
He has a 7lb penalty to contend with today but he won off much higher marks in his prime and this fast ground is no problem.
El Astronaute comes here off the back of an excellent second in a big sprint at York last month. He was right up there with the blistering pace and almost held on, only going down by a neck in the dying strides.
That was his second good run on the Knavesmire and this consistent type will make another bold bid.
Line Of Reason was behind El Astronaute last time but he had little luck in running and finished with plenty left.
He could get a lot closer today, while Merhoob deserves this step in class after winning over course and distance last time. He’s got a 6lb penalty but won in style and can’t be written off.
