IF you’ve experienced things going bump in the night, have you ever considered that your home might be haunted?
According to one psychic medium, it’s not just old houses that become the resting place for spirits.

Alison Wynne-Ryder, author of The Quirky Medium has offered up her thoughts on how to tell if your home is haunted – and what to do about it if it is.
She told BT Lifestyle: “Although most people you ask would say old properties – or buildings that house many people, such as prisons, hospitals and castles – the reality is that any property can be haunted, even a modern one.”
She admitted that more older properties tend to have a “haunted feeling” about them as they have more history and have been lived in by more residents that newer buildings.
Alison outlined some feelings you might have if your house is inhabited by a ghost, which include being watched or spied on, someone standing close behind you, being touched by unseen hands, the hair on back of your neck standing up, cobwebs on your face or body, a cold breeze as if someone has walked past you, and a dark, depressing feeling in one particular location.

When it comes to signs that a building is haunted, these range from lights turning on and off on their own and bulbs blowing regularly, to sounds of things being dropped, unexplained shadows, strange behaviour from pets, hearing voices and sudden temperature drops, especially in localised areas.
Alison explained that while spirits can reside anywhere, there are some traditional beliefs that ghosts enter and leave properties through the chimney.
“I know through experience that if they want to enter a house, they will enter wherever they wish to – and don’t always exit the same way,” she said.
Alison added that ghosts don’t always confine themselves to a particular area, but may feel most comfortable in a specific place, which is usually where most of the activity can be detected.
These may be extremely cold spots, where the signs that the building is haunted are most prevalent.

She told how there was a spirit boy in her house a couple of years ago and the sounds he made appeared to come from inside the walls – yet she felt a deep cold in the spare bedroom, regularly used by her grandchildren.
“He was drawn to them, making their toys go off on their own, playing with them,” she said.
“During this time, he hid in the wardrobe until I drew him close, communicated with him, and with the help of my medium friend, sent him to the light.”
If you suspect your home could be haunted, Alison recommended keeping a diary of unexplained things that happen to see if there’s a pattern.

She also suggested thinking back to when the odd occurrences started happening, to try to pinpoint whether something happened around that time that could be behind it, such as playing with a Ouija board, a visit to a graveyard or staying in a haunted house or castle.
The bad news is, if your home is haunted the ghost won’t go away by itself – and will probably only get worse.
Alison recommended contacting a reputable medium with “spirit rescue experience” for advice.
