OFFICIALS have blamed a city’s overgrown grass on the wrong sort of rain.
Residents had complained about the length of greenery in parks and on verges.

But mithering officials at Winchester City Council claimed the overgrowth had been caused, surprisingly, by the weather.
The council posted on Facebook: “Recent weather conditions have provided the perfect growing environment for grass and other vegetation which has resulted in some areas looking overgrown already.”
It has agreed to fund another cut.
A spokesman added: “It sounds unreasonable, but it’s a combination of an extremely wet early spring and a very hot late spring.”
