Which celebrities have died in 2018?

Jackson Odell, 20

On June 8, The Goldbergs actor Jackson Odell was found dead at his home in the San Fernando Valley.

Jackson was found “unresponsive in a sober living home” according to TMZ.

His family have said the late star “will always be a shining light and a brilliant, loving and talented soul.”

Peter Stringfellow, 77

The legendary nightclub owner passed away on Thursday, June 7, after a secret battle with cancer.

He left behind his third wife Bella, 36, and four children – the youngest being just three.

Yorkshireman Stringfellow started the Stringfellows franchise in the Sixties and was worth £32m.

On April 21, Verne passed away.

The star’s family confirmed the news with a statement on his Instagram page.

“It is with great sadness and incredibly heavy hearts to write that Verne passed away today.

“Verne was an extremely caring individual. He wanted to make everyone smile, be happy, and laugh. Anybody in need, he would help to any extent possible.

“Verne hoped he made a positive change with the platform he had and worked towards spreading that message every day.

Avicii died at the age of 28 in Muscat, Oman. The Wake Me Up star’s passing was confirmed by his rep on April 20, 2018.

In a statement, his rep said: “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii.

“He was found dead in Muscat, Oman this Friday afternoon local time, April 20th.

“The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time.

His family have now confirmed that the superstar DJ’s cause of death was suicide.

The superstar DJ allegedly killed himself with a broken glass bottle in his hotel room at luxury Oman resort.

Dale Winton died at his home on April 18.

His long-term agent Jan Kennedy said: “It is with great sadness that we can confirm the passing of Dale Winton who died at home earlier today.

“While we know many will share this terrible loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy at this time of grief.”

No further details were announced.

Rex Features Alex Beckett passed away aged 36 in April

Alex Beckett

It was announced on April 12, 2018, that Alex Beckett had died.

Alex was best known for his role as Barney Lumsden in the BBC’s hit series Twenty Twelve.

In a statement, his agent said: “We’re deeply saddened by the loss of Alex – a wonderful man and a hugely talented actor.

“Our thoughts are with his family and we kindly ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult time.”

Twitter Timmy Matley passed away aged 36 in April

It was revealed on April 11, 2018 singer Timmy Matley passed away aged 36.

The lead vocalist of The Overtones had previously battled skin cancer.

The band said: “It is with the greatest sadness that we have to announce that our dear friend and brother Timmy has passed away.”

Darts legend Eric Bristow died suddenly of a heart attack on April 5, 2018.

PDC Chairman Barry Hearn said of the late Crafty Cockney: “Eric will always be a legend in the world of darts and British sport.”

The star was awarded an MBE for his services to sport in 1989.

He retired from the game in 2007.

Ray Wilkins, 61

Ray Wilkins died on April 4, 2018, after suffering a cardiac arrest the previous week.

He was a seasoned England footballer, playing 84 times for the team, captaining 10 times and scoring three goals.

Over the last few years, he had battled poor health including ulcerative colitis.

He also had a double heart bypass operation last July.

Bill Maynard, 89

British TV actor Bill Maynard passed away aged 89 in Leicestershire after suffering a fall from his mobility scooter.

He was best known for his roles in Heartbeat, The Royal and Worzel Gummidge.

Katie Boyle, 91

Eurovision Song Contest host and actress Katie Boyle, Lady Saunders, died aged 91 on March 20, 2018.

Katie hosted the show IN 1960, 1963, 1968 and 1974.

The former model also fronted shows such as the Ivor Novello Awards, and she had a long-running radio programme called Katie and Friends on BBC Radio 2.

She “passed away peacefully” at her home.

Central TV Bullseye Jim Bowen passed away aged 80 in March

On March 14, 2018, it was revealed that Jim Bowen had passed away.

A former headmaster, born in Lancashire, he had started his career in the 1960s but found fame with the much-loved ITV show Bullseye in the 80s and 90s.

Jim was much-loved for his catchphrases “you can’t beat a bit of Bully” and “look what you would have won”.

He passed away with wife Phyllis by his side.

Professor Stephen Hawking died in the early hours of March 14, 2018.

He was considered a medical marvel, having lived for more than half a century after being given two years to live when he was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 1963.

The British physicist, who wrote A Brief History of Time, passed away at his home in Cambridge.

He was the subject of the Oscar-winning film The Theory of Everything.

Ken Dodd‘s publicist confirmed in the small hours of March 12, 2018, that the comedian had passed away aged 90.

The comedy legend fell ill with the flu on January 12 and was in hospital with a severe chest infection that came about as a result.

He spent nearly a week being cared for by medics.

The Frasier star passed away on February 4, 2018, in Chicago while in hospice care.

The actor was nominated for two Golden Globes and Emmy Awards for his role in the American sitcom.

Mark Salling, 35

Mark Salling was found dead after pleading guilty to child porn charges.

The American actor hanged himself on January 30, weeks before he was due to be jailed after pleading guilty to two child pornography charges.

Cyrille Regis, 59

Cyrille Regis was a pioneering English footballer whose best moments came in a West Brom and Coventry shirt.

The striker scored 158 goals in 614 league appearances and helped improve the prospects for black footballers across the country.

Cyrille passed away on January 14, 2018, and his funeral and a celebration event in his honour was attended by thousands of football fans, former players and relatives.

Howard Lew Lewis died at Ellen’s Glen House Hospital in Edinburgh on January 20, 2018.

Police are said to be investigating after his daughter claimed he was ‘killed by the NHS’.

He was a star of British television, appearing in classics such as Blackadder, Brush Strokes and Maid Marian.

Comedian Jerry Van Dyke, who is the younger brother of actor Dick, passed away on January 5, 2018, at his ranch in Texas, with his wife Shirley by his side.

His wife told TMZ that his health deteriorated following a serious car crash two years ago.

John Young, 87

Legendary astronaut John Young died in his Houston home on January 5, 2018, after battling pneumonia complications.

The San Francisco born veteran astronaut, who managed to smuggle a corned beef sandwich into orbit during one of his space missions, became the first man to visit space six times.

Ray Thomas, 76

Moody Blues singer Ray Thomas died suddenly at his home in Surrey on January 4, 2018.

Thomas stepped back from the band due to ill health in 1999 and in 2014 confirmed that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
