Arsenal Relaunching Jonny Evans Transfer Effort With £3m Enough To Land Relegated West Brom Defender

ARSENAL will try to bag a £3m Jonny Evans bargain now West Brom have been relegated, according to reports.

The Irishman was linked to the Gunners and Manchester City last summer and again in January but went down, eventually, with Darren Moore’s ship.

Reuters The defender allegedly informed the Baggies caretaker boss he did not want to play via SMS but the club defended their skipper

Arsene Wenger has left the Emirates but – according to the Mirror – the club remains interested in Evans, especially with Laurent Koscielny is out until at least Christmas with an Achilles injury.

Evans caused a stir on the last day of the season by allegedly refusing to play in the club’s final top-flight match via text message.

But the relegated club have made it clear that the centre-back had permission to miss the Crystal Palace clash

Albion said Evans was excused after full and amicable conversations with Moore who was perfectly happy with the agreement.

Albion believe suggestions that Evans sent a text saying he would not be showing up for the trip to South London is an unfair slur on the player.

Evans trained up until Friday but was unavailable for the weekend.
